「夕顔」あらすじ
豊後の国からの旅の僧が京都の五条辺りを通りかかると、ある家から和歌を吟ずる声が聞こえ、若い女性が現れる。僧が声を掛けると、ここは『源氏物語』に書かれた某(なにがし)の院の跡であると教え、光源氏と夕顔の恋と、はかない結末を語り、姿を消す。
僧が読経して弔っていると、夕顔の霊が現れて昔を懐かしみながら舞を舞い、成仏を喜びながら夜明けとともに消えていく。
Noh: YUGAO A Priest visiting Kyoto meets a Woman in the Gojo area. She reveals that she is, in fact, the spirit of Lady Yugao, one of Prince Genji’s lover’s who died under mysterious circumstances. Later she appears as she was long ago, thanks the Priest for reciting the Lotus Sutra on her behalf, and dances in celebration of her release from her attachment to the past. |
Kyogen: FUMI NINAI Two servants, Taro Kaja and Jiro Kaja, are ordered by their Master to deliver a letter to a friend by hand. At first they are not very happy about their task but soon their imaginations take over and they are having a great time… |
「松山天狗」あらすじ
西行法師が讃岐の国を訪れて崇徳上皇の遺跡を詣でようとしていると、老翁が現れ、白峰陵に案内する。西行が歌を詠じて手向けると、老翁は上皇の悲話を詳しく物語り、唯今の詠歌に涙したと言い、姿を消す。
その夜、上皇の霊が現れて、在りし日を偲びながら舞を舞う。すると山風荒く天地鳴動し、勇壮な天狗の姿が現れ出て、上皇の思いを慰めると、明け方の空にいつしか消え失せた。
Noh: MATSUYAMA TENGU The poet-priest Saigyo visits the grave of Emperor Sotoku in Matsuyama and meets an Old Man there. Usually only tengu goblins visit the spot, the Old Man reveals before disappearing. Later the ghost of the Emperor appears, thanks Saigyo for the poem he has offered, and then dances. The Emperor then becomes angry remembering being forced to abdicate and in exile. Two tengu goblins appear and console him.
